Celebrating excellence within the property sector in Northern Ireland once again…

The Belfast Telegraph Property Awards are a much-anticipated date in the calendar of those working in the property sector in Northern Ireland. The purpose of these awards is to celebrate excellence, recognise outstanding achievements and provide agencies, developers, architects, designers and contractors with an ideal platform to showcase outstanding work. Our award categories encompass every aspect of the property sector, both residential and commercial, with additional recognition for related businesses such as interior design and architecture.

The awards will be held on Friday 15th November 2019 at the Crowne Plaza, Belfast. Hosted by Pamela Ballantine the awards will be presented during a 2 course lunch with entertainment provided. Please note that this event is always hugely popular and sells out well in advance so book now to avoid disappointment by clicking here.

Entry Requirements
Entry is free and must be completed online via this form. Entries should clearly demonstrate the specialist skills needed to provide clients with top quality service, consistency and best value on a range of work completed during the period from 1st January 2018 – 30th September 2019.

You should submit:

  • Entry overview (100 words maximum) which can be used for PR purposes.
  • A maximum of 750 words on how you/your organisation / the project or service meet the criteria of the category entered.
  • A summary statement of up to 150 words why you should win.
  • A pdf of no more than two A4 pages if required, to showcase visually the work outlined in your entry. These should be clearly marked with your category and company name and should otherwise include visuals and captions only.

Award Categories

1. Commercial Estate Agency of the Year
This category is open to Northern Ireland commercial agencies, large and small, established and new, which can demonstrate excellence in their service offering, business success and their special innovation in any area of business; technical, financial, communications, marketing etc.

To support your application you should:

  • Show evidence of market presence in your specific region
  • Provide an overview of commercial activity in the last three years and show evidence of growth from 1st January 2018 to 30th September 2019 
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered results for your clients to meet their needs 
  • Demonstrate innovation in your business 
  • Identify any outstanding projects

2. Commercial Development of the Year
This category is open to developers (either operating within Northern Ireland or to Northern Ireland-based developers carrying out work outside Northern Ireland).

To support your application you should:

  • Provide evidence of the fitness for purpose, aesthetics, and quality of the development
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing solutions to challenges and satisfying demands 
  • Demonstrate innovation and initiative 
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver project to budget and on time 
  • Where appropriate provide evidence of occupancy/usage/commercial success

3. Property Deal of the Year
This category recognises the most outstanding investment property deal completed by a Northern Ireland based investor or seller for a property located either in, or external to, Northern Ireland in the last year.

To support your application:

  • Identify the key aspects of the deal which demonstrate its success
  • Provide evidence of an imaginative approach to establishing the deal 
  • Demonstrate how your approach added value to the successful delivery of the deal

4. Commercial Fit-out of the Year
This category is open to industry suppliers and will award entrants who can demonstrate outstanding innovation, quality, and service and customer satisfaction. Open to entrants who have either been involved in the design, planning, office refurbishment or original fit-out of a commercial interior. e.g retail, office, hospitality.

To support your application you should:

  • Demonstrate the fit-outs ability to contribute to the well-being and productivity of the workforce using the building
  • Demonstrate the highest standards in the quality of design, workmanship and materials 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing solutions to challenges and satisfying client demands 
  • Demonstrate innovation and initiative 
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver project to budget, on time and delivering value for money

5. Architectural Practice of the Year
(1) Commercial (2) Residential
The key criterion for this category is that the practice should demonstrate design excellence, that its work is fit for purpose and is sustainable.

To support your application you should:

  • Provide an overview of commercial or residential activity and show evidence of growth from 1st January 2018 – 30th September 2019
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing solutions to challenges and satisfying client requirements 
  • Demonstrate innovation and initiative 
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver projects to budget, brief and time scale 
  • Identify any outstanding projects

6. Residential Estate Agency of the Year
(1) Sole Branch (2) Multi Branch
This category is open to Northern Ireland residential agencies, large and small, established and new, which can demonstrate excellence in their service offering, business success and their special innovation in any area of business; technical, financial, communications, marketing etc.

To support your application you should:

  • Show evidence of market presence in your specific region
  • Provide an overview of residential activity and show evidence of growth from 1st January 2018 - 30th - September 2019
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered results to meet your clients needs. 
  • Demonstrate innovation in your business 
  • Demonstrate how you have developed staff skills to meet emerging trends and challenges in the industry.

7. Residential Lettings Agency of the Year
Open to any stand-alone residential property management/lettings company or a division within a company. It is not an award for an individual. The category covers agencies’ management departments, block management departments and larger groups’ management divisions.

To support your application you should:

  • Provide an overview of management activity in the last year
  • Provide an overview of letting rent review and lease renewal activity on behalf of landlords/ tenants in the last year 
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered best in class service 
  • Demonstrate how you are responding to emerging trends in the residential letting sector

8. Residential Development of the Year
Open to all developers operating within Northern Ireland (or to Northern Ireland-based developers carrying out work outside Northern Ireland). The judges will seek to identify the developer who has demonstrated a commitment to providing solutions to challenges and satisfying demands. Demonstrating innovation and initiative is desirable. The judging panel will look for regeneration features, identified needs and demand for the development, whether or not it achieved and met the demand and what its social and environmental impact is.

To support your application:

  • Provide evidence of the fitness for purpose, the overall social impact, aesthetics and quality of the development
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered value for money 
  • Provide evidence of occupancy/usage 
  • Provide evidence of corporate social responsibility, community support and any engagement with parties external to the development interests 
  • Provide evidence of innovation in design.

9. Best Interior Design of the Year
This category focuses on interior design projects and recognises not only the achievement for the budget but also functionality, quality and aesthetics. Projects can include a single room, several rooms, or a whole property in either a private residence or development show home.

To support your application you should:

  • Demonstrate how you have achieved the ‘wow’ factor
  • Demonstrate how your design solution met the brief and the budget available 
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking to overcome challenges within the project

10. Best Property Marketing of the Year
This category is open to Northern Ireland commercial and residential agencies who can demonstrate a creative and successful approach to marketing individual properties or schemes.

To support your application:

  • Describe your campaign identifying objectives, target markets and platforms used.
  • Identify any innovative or creative elements of the campaign. 
  • Provide evidence of the successful outcome of the campaign.

11. Innovative Use of Smarthome Technology
This category is open to designers/builders/architects within Northern Ireland who have demonstrated the innovative use of smarthome technology in house design.

To support your application:

  • Show evidence of the products that have been integrated in the design and how they have been applied.
  • Demonstrate how your approach has added value to the house through for example increased efficiency, control and customisation. 
  • Provide evidence how the technology enhances modern living and the adaptability of the building.

12. Young Agent of the Year
This category recognises the excellent work of young professionals in either the commercial or residential property sectors. Should there be sufficient entries, the judges may present separate awards to commercial and residential property agents. This category is for property agents aged 30 years old and under as of 30th Sept 2019 who make a valuable contribution to the companies they work for and show considerable promise as future leaders of the industry. This is an award for individual members of staff. You may enter this category yourself or nominate a colleague.

To support your application you should:

  • Detail career background
  • Demonstrate key successes and personal achievements in the last year of business 
  • Provide examples of enthusiasm, innovation, implementation and leadership qualities displayed by the nominee 
  • Outline why you believe the young agent is an industry name to watch 
  • Include reference from current employer (up to max of 350 words)

13. Young Architect of the Year
This category recognises the excellent work of young professionals in either the commercial or residential property sectors. This category is for architects aged 35 years old and under as of 30th Sept 2019 who make a valuable contribution to the companies they work for and show considerable promise as future leaders of the industry. This is an award for individual members of staff. You may enter this category yourself or nominate a colleague.

To support your application you should:

  • Detail career background
  • Demonstrate key successes and personal achievements in the last year of business 
  • Provide examples of enthusiasm, innovation, implementation and leadership qualities displayed by the nominee 
  • Outline why you believe the young architect is an industry name to watch 
  • Include reference from current employer (up to max of 350 words)

14. Best Property Management Company
Open to management companies or companies with a block management department of any size who manage a portfolio of residential developments in Northern Ireland.

To support your application you should:

  • Provide an overview of management activity in the period from 1st January 2018 – 30th September 2019.
  • Demonstrate innovation in your approach to property management. 
  • Show how challenges with leaseholders and management companies were met and overcome. 
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered value for money.

Property Awards Entry Terms and Conditions

1. The Belfast Telegraph Property Awards are a business to business initiative, intended to provide opportunities for sole traders and organisations within the industry to submit their professional achievements for consideration by our judging panel, in a bid to be shortlisted for one or more of our award categories.

2.  Entries will be accepted across 16 categories 

3.  The awards are open to all businesses with the following restrictions: Entries will be confined to organisations based in Northern Ireland or with a significant operating base here. Sponsors cannot enter the category they are sponsoring.

4. Entries must be made using the official online entry form and should only include the information described. Entries which do not conform to this format may be excluded.

5. Word limits should be adhered to. Entries will be trimmed at the point they exceed the word limit.

6. The competition winning entry will be selected by our panel of judges.  The decision is final and no correspondence or communication will be entered into. No personal data will be shared with the judging panel. In order to make their decision they will have access only to the entry submitted for their consideration.

7. The judging panel may rely on published information and facts that are in the public domain when considering entries. Shortlisted companies may be asked to provide verification of claims made.

8. Organisations may enter as many award categories as they wish but may submit only one entry in each category.

9. Entries should relate to business activity falling within the period 1 January 2018 to 30 September 2019.

10. Entries must be received no later than 12 noon on Thursday 3 October 2019.

11. The shortlist will be announced during the week commencing 7 October 2019 in the Belfast Telegraph and on BelfastTelegraph.co.uk. Those who are shortlisted for a category award will be contacted by email and/or telephone.

12. Please note that the personal data of those successfully shortlisted will be shared with our Events and PR Partner(s) in order for them to communicate important information regarding the event and the presentation requirements on the evening.

13. Awards will be presented the awards ceremony on Friday 15 November 2019.

14. Personal data collected from this competition will be held securely for 3 months in order to shortlist entries and communicate with these parties. INM NI will delete this data when winners have been chosen and notified. The exception to this will be the data of category winners who will have their personal data held for a period of 14 months in order to facilitate promotion of the subsequent year’s event.

General Terms and Conditions

3. By entering, all eligible entrants agree to abide by each and all these terms and conditions.  The entry form will be part of the overall terms and conditions.

Misrepresentative or fraudulent entries will invalidate an entry.  Where a competition involves a voting process: offering or receiving any incentive for voting is not permitted and will invalidate the vote, and may disqualify the recipient of the vote.  INM NI reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants and withhold prizes for violating any of these terms and conditions.  INM NI reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions.  Any amendments will be published on the website.

5.  Promotion is open to residents of Northern Ireland who are over 18 years of age.  INM NI reserves the right to request written proof of age from the winner.

6. Employees and agents of INM NI or any company connected with the promotion or any of INM NI’s associated companies are not eligible to take part in the applicable competition, nor are their immediate family members. For these purposes an "immediate family member" includes a spouse, partner, child, step child, grandchild, brother, step brother, sister, step sister, parent, step parent or legal guardian.

7. Use of a false email, name or address by an entrant will disqualify them from receiving any prize.

8. In the case of conflict between these rules and such specific directions/terms and conditions, these rules shall prevail.  By participating in this competition, you are deemed to accept these rules and the specific directions/terms and conditions.

9. No responsibility is accepted for entries damaged, lost or mislaid and proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of delivery.  No entries will be accepted by agents, in bulk or from third parties.

10. Any additional costs and expenses incurred by entrants are to be the responsibility of entrants. Unless otherwise stated, all taxes, insurances, fees and surcharges are to be the sole responsibility of entrants.

11. The determination and decision of INM NI on all matters shall be final and no competition correspondence will be entered into. INM NI reserve the right in their reasonable discretion: (a) to disqualify any claimant, competitor or nominee whose conduct is contrary to the spirit of the rules or the intention of the promotion and to declare as void any or all of their claims or entries based on such conduct; (b) to declare as void any claims or entries resulting from any printing, production and/or distribution errors (including but not limited to any error(s) in the magazine, this website, and/or other printed materials, or where there has been error(s) in any aspect of the preparation for or conduct of the promotion materially affecting the result of the promotion or the number of claimants or the value of claims; (c) to add to or to waive any rules on reasonable notice; and/or (d) to cancel the promotion or any part of it at any stage in the event of circumstances beyond INM NI’s reasonable control.

15. INM NI reserves the right to publish entries (including parts of entries) other than the winning entry and publication does not necessarily mean the entrant has won a prize.

16. All competition entrants can opt-in to marketing materials or newsletters by ticking the appropriate box(es) on the entry form. Your data will not be used for any marketing purposes without your consent.

17. INM NI will not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections that may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant’s ability to participate in the competition.  Other than death or personal injury arising from the acts or omissions of INM or its employees, INM will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of the winner’s (or their guest’s) enjoyment of the prize.

18. INM NI reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend a competition and/or vary competition rules at any time without prior notice.
